Sharon Stewart Answers Questions on Run for Christian County Recorder

Christian County Sun Interview with Sharon Stewart about her campaign for Christian County Recorder of DeedsThe following is an interview with Sharon Stewart conducted by the Christian County Sun via email. Sharon is currently seeking the office of Recorder of Deeds for Christian County. She has several opponents in this race, including Jim Gray, Kelly Blunt Hall, & Dennis Clinton. SUN: Why are you running for Christian County Recorder of Deeds?

Sharon Stewart: I was asked to run for Recorder of Deeds by members of our community that believe in my abilities and leadership.  I do have my own personal reasons for running for Recorder of Deeds as well.  I have the desire to serve my community and offer Christian County the leadership and integrity it expects and deserves.  The many diverse skills I have can be utilized in the Recorder’s Office, thus benefiting the citizens of Christian County.  For twenty years, I have been involved with my community, receiving “Volunteer of the Year” award two years consecutively.

SUN: Now that we know why you’re running, why are you running as a Republican?

Sharon Stewart: My values are aligned in accordance with the Republican Party. The Republican Party is a Party of principles that bring us back to the basics.  Republicans are the voices of conservatism.  Republicans have an economic view that we should have what we earn.  Republicans do not believe in distributing wealth for those who do not want to work. I strongly believe in these values, therefore I am a proud Republican.

SUN: How do you think your experience has prepared you for the role of a county recorder?

Sharon Stewart: I have many diverse skills and experiences that have prepared me for the role of Recorder of Deed’s.  I am a Certified Paralegal,therfore I am familiar with the operations, protocol, and terminology used in the Recorder’s Office.  I have 26 years experience in customer service, public service, administration, and financial audit.  I have also started, owned, and operated three small successful businesses as a Sole Proprietor.  I am proficient in business management, computers,technology, computer programs, data entry, and record keeping, to name a few.  Being a Counselor and Therapist, I have the ability to handle issues and conflict in an equitable manner. I also have the ability to create a positive work environment, resulting in happy, productive employess.  I plan on using my many skills, talents, and resources benefit the Recorder’s Office.

SUN: What is the first thing you would change about the way the Recorder’s office is run?

Sharon Stewart: As The Recorder of Deed’s, the first thing I would do, is conduct a full assessment of the Recorder’s Office.  This assessment would determine the strengths and weaknesses of the Recorder’s Office.  I would make the necessary changes after conducting the assessment.Customer service and work ethic would be improved immediately. I would also implement a customer service scorecard allowing the individuals that utilize the office to report feedback for improvement.  I intend on creating a positive atmosphere for our customers, visitors, and employees.

SUN: What else would you change?

Sharon Stewart: I would change the entire atmosphere of the Recorder’s Officereminding the employees that we are here to serve our community in an efficient manner, with professionalism, integrity, accuracy, and provide excellent customer service.  I would like to add features to modernize the office, allowing individuals to be able to access the record’s andorder copies from the comfort of their home or office.  These copies can be printed online or picked up in the Recorder’s office. My goal is to create and maintain a Recorder’s Office that will be set the standard for other offices to follow and admire.

SUN: From talking with people around Christian County, what do you think are the most important issues to people in this county, both in this race& longer term?

Sharon Stewart: People want Officials to represent them in an honest and professional manner.  They want integrity and strong leadership.  People are tired of the poor service, fraud, and corruption.  This is why I was asked to run for this office.  I am a strong leader with integrity that cannot be compromised.  I have honor, experience, education, and dedication. As Recorder of Deeds, I will set an example of these traits for Christian County.

SUN: What makes you different from all the other candidates for Recorder?

Sharon Stewart: I feel that I am the most versatile, diverse candidate. I have acquired many skills and talents in my 42 years.  I will use these skills and talents to better my community, benefit the Recorder’s Office,and secure our future here in this awesome community of Christian County.

SUN: Why should Christian County voters cast their ballot for you?

Sharon Stewart: I have been labeled “The Right Choice” by members of our community as I posess strong leadership skills our County expects and deserves. Christian County Citizens who are ready to move forward to benefit the future of our County should vote for Sharon A. Stewart. I understand what it takes to lead and will always act with professionalism and integrity.  The best interest of my community will always be placed first.  I have the skills; I have the knowledge; and I have the ambition to be the next Recorder of Deeds for our Christian County.
