Linda Essick Answers Questions on Campaign for Christian County Recorder

Linda Essick: Republican candidate for Christian County MO Recorder of Deeds in August 3 primary election

The following is an interview with Linda Essick conducted by the Christian County Sun via email. Linda is currently seeking the office of Recorder of Deeds for Christian County as a Republican. She has several opponents in this race, including Kelly Blunt HallJim Gray, Sharon Stewart, & Dennis Clinton. SUN: Why are you running for Christian County Recorder of Deeds?

Linda Essick: I’ve worked in the office for ten years. I love the job and I enjoy coming to work everyday.

SUN: Now that we know why you’re running, why are you running as a Republican?

Linda Essick: I’m not a political person, but in this county race, I think it is very important to elect a person with knowledge and experience of the job. I am a Republican because it stands for a party of principles, progress, and the protection of life and property.

SUN: How do you think your experience has prepared you for the role of a county recorder?

Linda Essick: Working in the recorder’s office for ten years and being chief deputy recorder for 8 years, I am proud of the progress our office has made. I have assistance Roy Meadows with the purchased a new computer system with public Internet search, the ability to record documents electronically,and archieved old deed books with the ability to search them online through a contract.

SUN: What is the first thing you would change about the way the Recorder’s office is run?

Linda Essick: I would continue with the same courteous staff, with continued document recording in a timely manner.

SUN: What else would you change?

Linda Essick: I would like to add the option of using debit/credit card as a way for paying for recordings, copy fees, faxes or the ability to print from home.

SUN: From talking with people around Christian County, what do you think are the most important issues to people in this county, both in this race & longer term?

Linda Essick: To continue with the same courteous and respectful treatment that the customers are use to. We are a public office meaning anyone can come in to our office and search. We try to help when customers are searching something for their self. Title companies, surveyors, appraisers, etc, are all welcome to come in and do searches for their customers.

SUN: What makes you different from all the other candidates for Recorder?

Linda Essick: I am devoted and dedicated to this job. I was taught how important it is to keep accurate, achievable records. I take pride in my job.

SUN: Why should Christian County voters cast their ballot for you?

Linda Essick: I was hired by Bruce Harris, Circuit Clerk and ex-officio Recorder of Deeds. He had twenty plus years experience. When the offices split in January of 2003, Bruce continued as Circuit Clerk. Roy Meadows ran for Recorder of Deeds unopposed. Roy has seventeen years experience. I feel like I’ve been taught by the best. Roy has brought us a long way in the computer world.
